No. PNG preserves the JPG exactly without further loss, which is useful before editing or when a PNG is required.
Can I get a transparent background?+
Conversion alone can't remove a background. Use Remove Background first, then download as PNG.
Why is the PNG larger?+
PNG is lossless and photos contain lots of detail. That is normal.
